The 2020 vintage
After the previous hot, dry years, 2020 was again a truly classic vintage. The winter was mild, the spring dry and the vineyards developed calmly and thoughtfully. This also pleased our sheeps, which were allowed to stay in the vineyards until mid-April and only moved into their summer quarters when the budding started. After flowering, the vines and also we enjoyed a summer with pleasantly warm but not too hot temperatures, but also with more rain than in the last years.
All together provided for vital vines, but also required a lot of manual work in the vineyards. We took advantage of the summer, when the world was turning a little slower, to reflect and make plans and adapted to the rhythm of our vines. Both the vines and we were relaxed when we started harvesting in mid-September. The grapes had ripened harmoniously and in perfect autumn weather we started harvesting the grapes for our sparkling wines. Sun, wind and occasional rain showers alternated during the harvest and in only six weeks, and thus relatively quickly by our standards, we were able to finish it happily and satisfied at the end of October. Many thanks to the whole Jurtschitsch team! The result is a vintage typical for Kamptal, which is characterized by finesse, elegance, liveliness and character.
We wish you much pleasure with the new vintage
