    The 2025 Vintage

Right at the beginning of the new year, we were not only busy pruning the vines, but also working intensively on repairing the dry stone walls in our vineyards, which had been damaged during the rainfall in September 2024. However, the rain had also ensured deep soil moisture, which was beneficial to the vines in the first few weeks of the year. Bud break was a little late this year, but flowering began at the beginning of June - the “new normal”.

Rainfall at the ideal time during a warm but not extreme summer made the Kamptal vineyards shine bright and green. Vines and grapes were able to thrive without drought stress. A week later than in 2024, on 28th of August, the first grapes made their way into the cellar – almost traditionally Pinot Noir and Zweigelt for our Brut Rosé. The first musts already made our sparkling wine hearts beat faster and reminded us of the brilliant 2021 vintage.

The weather at the start of the harvest could hardly have been better: sunny days and cool nights. The grapes tasted just as good – full of vitality and freshness, with a ripe acidity structure and the finest aromas. Rainy weather conditions that appeared on the weather apps in mid-September pushed us to pick up the pace a little – memories of 2024 were still present. The plots of our Riesling and Grüner Veltliner vineyards were harvested ‘al dente’. The brief rain brought cooler temperatures and wind, but slowed down the selective hand harvest as we consequently sorted out any botrytis. This reduced the quantity, but ensured high quality. Once the Rieslings from Heiligenstein and Loiserberg were in the cellar, the last Grüner Veltliners from the ‘Erste Lagen’ followed. After six weeks of intense concentration, emotions and incredible team spirit, calm finally returned to the vineyards. We are delighted with a magnificent vintage full of elegance, precision and vibrancy, and would like to thank everyone who contributed to it.

We hope you enjoy the new vintage!
